A Return to Cuba: Meeting Needs, Strengthening Hope

Missions Everywhere recently returned from a short trip back to Cuba. Although we had just been there in March, we came home carrying a deeper awareness of the challenges people are facing. The rising cost of food, fuel shortages, and frequent power outages are placing a heavy strain on daily life.

During this visit, we were grateful to provide $16,500 worth of food thanks to the generosity of so many who support this mission. We brought rice and beans with us and were able to leave additional supplies with families we spent time with. On Sunday, after the morning service, we helped distribute rice to those in attendance—each person leaving with five packages to help meet immediate needs.

We also brought rechargeable flashlights and lanterns, which have become essential due to ongoing blackouts. Many shared that electricity is currently limited to just a few hours during the day and night. Being able to provide light—especially lanterns that can be solar-charged—was a simple but meaningful way to help.

While there, we visited a new house church in Cojímar, where a dedicated couple has been faithfully reaching children in their community. We walked alongside them through their neighborhood, visiting homes, meeting needs where we could, and offering prayer and encouragement. Over the course of the three days, 19 people prayed for salvation.

There were also moments of joy, including time spent fishing. We brought retractable rods and gear, and it was special to teach a few individuals—some for the first time—how to fish, leaving the equipment with them to continue.

We are continually encouraged by the resilience and faith of the Cuban people, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. This work is not done alone, and we are deeply grateful for the partnership that makes it possible.
